Visiting a new church for the first time can feel a little intimidating or uncertain—wondering what to expect, what to wear, or how the service flows. We’ve put together some answers to common questions to help you feel more comfortable and welcome as you explore our church.
Q: Does WBBC offer childcare during church services?
A: Yes! During our 11:00 AM service on Sundays, we have a nursery option available for infants and toddlers (age 4 and under) and Junior Church classes for children K5-5th grade. Ask one of our ushers about it when you arrive!
Q: What style of worship should I expect at WBBC?
A: We enjoy traditional, conservative worship with hymns and expository Bible preaching.
Q: What should I wear to a service at WBBC?
A: You’ll find that our people wear all kinds of different styles to church. Some men simply wear jeans and a t-shirt; others wear a suit and tie. Some ladies wear fancy dresses; others do not. We ask only that you dress modestly in whatever way you find to be comfortable, reverent, and appropriate.
Q: What denomination is WBBC associated with?
A: We are an Independent Baptist church, which means that we are not connected with any convention or association.
Q: Does WBBC practice speaking in tongues?
A: We are not Pentecostal or Charismatic. We do not practice speaking in tongues or any other sign-gift of the Spirit in our church services, but we generally don’t see this issue as one to argue about. We consider Charismatic Christians to be brothers and sisters in Christ.
Q: What does WBBC believe about the Bible?
A: We view the Bible as inerrant, literally true, and authoritative. It is the authority for our church, and we enjoy carefully examining the passages of Scripture to interpret and apply them to our lives.
Q: What Bible version do you use at WBBC?
A: As a standard, we only use the King James Version of the Bible in our preaching, however we view Bible translation preference as a matter of individual soul liberty.
Q: What does WBBC teach about the Rapture?
A: We believe in the “pre-tribulation Rapture,” which means that Christ will rapture the Church prior to the 7-year period often called “the Tribulation.” While we believe this question and other questions about the end-times are important and worth studying, we do not see them as subjects worth arguing or dividing over. Christian brothers and sisters with differing views on the Rapture should feel right at home in our church.
